Vocabulario (Idioms y Phrasal verbs) relacionados con el amor.

All you need is love; y love is in the air. Quizás has mencionado estas frases en inglés sin saber exactamente que significaban. Y aunque el amor es el lenguaje universal, pero siempre necesitaremos saber inglés, te dejamos estos idioms y phrasal verbs relacionados con el amor.

 

Puppy love: se dice de un amor infantil entre gente joven.

 

«The two teenagers had a case of puppy love»

 

Lovey-dovey: una pareja que es muy cariñosa y demostrativa. 

 

«The new couple were all lovey-dovey at the party»

 

Be the Apple of someone’s eye: ser amado y atesorado por alguien, normalmente un padre o madre. Ser el favorito, en español se traduciría por ser el ojito derecho de alguien.

 

«I love all my children the same, but she is the apple of my eye».

 

Be smitten with somebody: estar completamente cautivado por alguien y sentirse muy feliz.

 

«I have never seen her so smitten with somebody!»

 

Have a crush: tener un enamoramiento, normalmente se da entre jóvenes.

 

«My student told me she had a crush on another classmate»

 

Be a soulmate: tener un alma gemela, alguien te comprende y te acepta completamente.

 

«Romeo and Juliet were soulmates»

 

Love someone with all of one’s heart and soul: amar a alguien con toda tu alma.

 

«She loved him with all her heart and soul. It was impossible to keep them apart»

 

Blind date: una cita a ciegas.

 

«They agreed to a blind date and now they are married!»

 

Fall in love: enamorarse.

 

«They fell in love when they met in Greece».

 

Made for each other: estar echos el uno para el otro.

 

«The are very similar, I think they are made for each other».

 

Love at first sight: amor a primera vista.

 

«He didn’t believe in love at first sight, but then he met her and everything changed».

 

Be an item: tener una relación amorosa oficialmente.

 

«They have decided to finally be an item and be together officially».

 

Match made in heaven: se dice de una unión perfecta. 

 

«They look so happy that I think it’s a match made in heaven».

 

Love to death: amar a alguien mucho.

 

«He loved her to death but she didn’t feel the same way».

 

Make up: reconciliarse.

 

«They are always fighting and making up. Their relationship is very rocky.»

 

Split up / Break up: romper una relación.

 

«Ann and John broke up after seven years, it’s kind of sad».

 

Get engaged: comprometerse en matrimonio.

 

«He proposed and she said yes, so they are engaged now!»

 

Get married: casarse.

 

«They want to get married as soon as possible».

 

Honeymoon: luna de miel.

 

«After the wedding, we decided to go to Cancún for our honeymoon».

-Other half.

 

-My beloved.

 

-Fiancé ( si es un chico), fianceé (si es una chica) y estais comprometidos.

 

Groom (novio) y Bride (novia) el día de la boda.

 

Husband (marido), Wife (mujer)
