Parece mentira pero hay muchas expresiones que desarrollan nuestro vocabulario de un simple intermedio a un nivel avanzado. ¿Quieres verlas? Aquí tienes unas pocas.
Don’t get me wrong
En español diríamos, no me malentiendas. Se usa cuando quieres que la otra persona no malinterprete algo que decimos.
“Don’t get me wrong, I would love to help you but I’m busy”
Don’t give me that!
¡No me cuentes cuentos! Se usaría principalmente cuando alguien intenta engañarte o mentirte.
“Don’t give me that! I know exactly where you were last night!”
Don’t give up the day job!
Una manera divertida de decirle a alguien que continúe haciendo algo antes que comenzar otra cosa que tiene pocas probabilidades de tener éxito. Aquí diríamos ¡Sigue con lo tuyo!
“What do you think of my singing?”
“Eh…don’t give up the day job!”
Don’t get mad, get even
Popular idiom que significa algo así como no te enfades, véngate.
“Use these bad feelings that you have. Don’t get mad. Get even.”
Don’t hold your breath
Otro idiom muy popular que se usa para decir que algo es probable que no ocurra.
“We might get a ticket to the Taylor Swift concert but don’t hold your breath.”
Don’t give it another thought
En español diríamos, “no lo pienses más”. Es cuando algo te está rondando pero no te hace bien pensar en ello.
“She got mad at you but don’t give it another thought. Tomorrow you two will make amends”
Don’t mention it
Otra forma de decir “de nada”. Cuando le haces un favor a alguien y te da las gracias.
“Thanks again for giving me a lift to work”

Don’t make me laugh
Tenemos una expresión en castellano prácticamente igual que dice “no me hagas reir”. Se usa cuando alguien te dice algo ridículo.
“Don’t make me laugh, you can’t run faster than me”
Don’t shoot the messenger
Idiom muy usado en películas o libros. “No mates al mensajero”. Quiere decir que no te enfades con la persona que te trae malas noticias.
“I have bad new but please don’t shoot the messenger”
Don’t see the point of something
No ver el punto / motivo de algo. Cuando no sabes exactamente para qué estás haciendo algo o crees que es inútil.
“I don’t see the point of waiting for her, I know she is not coming!”
